In order to be accepted for a Medicare Advantage plan (also known as Part C) you must meet certain eligibility requirements. Luckily, its not nearly as difficult to qualify for a Medicare Advantage plan as it is to qualify for a Medicare Supplement.

You must have Part A and Part B in order to get Medicare Advantage. You’ll have to continue paying your premium for them as well, so when Medicare Advantage plans say they are $0/month, they really mean ‘$0 extra on top of your premium for Original Medicare’.

Plans are filed by county, so if your friend lives 15 minutes away and has a Medicare Advantage plan that they love, be sure to check that that plan is available in your area.
