Medicare Advantage Eligibility
There are certain requirements that you must meet in order to be approved for a Medicare Advantage plan. Luckily, its not nearly as difficult to qualify for a Medicare Advantage plan as it is for a Medicare Supplement (to check the eligibility requirements for Medicare Supplements click here).
You must meet the following criteria:
1. Have Medicare Part A and Part B
You must have Part A and Part B in order to get Medicare Advantage. You’ll have to continue paying your premium for them as well, so when Medicare Advantage plans say they are $0/month, they really mean ‘$0 extra on top of your premium for Original Medicare’.
2. Live within the plan’s service area
Plans are filed by county, so if your friend lives 15 minutes away and has a Medicare Advantage plan that they love, be sure to check that that plan is available in your area.
3. Enroll during a valid election period
There are only certain times of the year when you are eligible to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. For more information on these “election periods” visit this page _____________
That’s all it takes! The key point here is that your health has nothing to do with your eligibility for Medicare Advantage. In fact, there are not even any health questions on the enrollment application!
