Medicare Advantage Eligibility

In order to be accepted for a Medicare Advantage plan (also known as Part C) you must meet certain eligibility requirements. Luckily, its not nearly as difficult to qualify for a Medicare Advantage plan as it is to qualify for a Medicare Supplement.

There are certain requirements that you must meet in order to be eligibile for a Medicare Advantage plan.

You must meet the following criteria:

1. Have Medicare Part A and Part B

You must have Part A and Part B in order to get Medicare Advantage. You’ll have to continue paying your premium for them as well, so when Medicare Advantage plans say they are $0/month, they really mean ‘$0 extra on top of your premium for Original Medicare’.

2. Live within the plan’s service area

Plans are filed by county, so if your friend lives 15 minutes away and has a Medicare Advantage plan that they love, be sure to check that that plan is available in your area.

3. Enroll during a valid election period

There are only certain times of the year when you are eligible to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan

That’s all it takes! The key point here is that your health has nothing to do with your eligibility for Medicare Advantage. In fact, there are not even any health questions on the enrollment application!
