Already Enrolled?

The number one thing we see with people who already have Medicare is that they haven’t shopped their plan in years. We cannot stress enough how important this is! You should be shopping your Medicare plans just like you would your car insurance or your home insurance to make sure you’re getting the best deal. If you haven’t done this recently, its very likely that you can save a significant amount of money.

If you have a Medicare Supplement Plan

You’re probably paying too much for your coverage. Each year, you’ll get a rate increase on your policy anniversary. After a couple years, this adds up and makes it very likely that you can save money on the exact same coverage by switching to another company. Remember, Medicare Supplements are standardized, so there is no use paying WAY more for the exact same thing you could get from another company.

You can change Medicare Supplement plans at any time of the year, BUT you must be able to answer health questions in order to qualify.

If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan

Medicare Advantage plans are one year contracts, so your plan changes every single year. Each September you will receive a letter in the mail with details on what your plan will look like for the next year. You should expect  drug formulary changes, doctor networks change, and benefits change, so if you aren’t paying attention you can easily find yourself on the WRONG plan. Make sure you review your coverage so that you’re getting all the benefits that you’re eligible for.

Medicare Advantage plans can be changed from October 15 – December 7 of each year. These plans will start on January 1st.

There is another enrollment period from January 1 – March 31 of each year where you can make a change to your Medicare Advantage plan.

We’re frequently able to save people over a thousand dollars per year, just by making sure they are getting the best deal for their coverage. Don’t pay more than you have to…that money belongs in your pockets, not the insurance company’s.
